Update from British Champion Telemark Skier and BAMbassador Jasmin Taylor – Pre-season in Tignes

Jasmin Taylor, one of our new BAMbassadors, is a fantastic talent within winter sport and telemark. She has competed on the British Team, achieved a World Cup Silver and is ranked 8th in the world. This is quite a coup for Team GB and skiing disciplines. Keep an eye out for her updates and performances” Jaz I have now returned home to Ipswich from an intense week of training on the French glacier, Tignes. The conditions were excellent and it was great to ski with fellow GB telemarkers and coach, Sebastien Mansart. Our time was spent free-skiing, training giant slalom, hiking (on the one bad weather day), roller-blading and playing Frisbee. The daily routine of skiing and sport has usually followed by dinner and cards which seemed to be our idea of team bonding and team building as well as some intense cometition. We were joined by the French Telemark Ski Team on the final two days and we made the most of our time by playing sport all together in the afternoon by the lake. It’s not long now until the opening World Cup in Hintertux, Austria. Let the count down begin! About Jaz Jasmin Taylor is the first Briton to win a World Championship medal in telemark skiing. She is the 2014 British Champion, 2013 French Cup Champion and her best finishing position in World Cup is 2nd place. Based on her World Cup ranking she is currently #1 for Great Britain and #8 in the world. Jaz joined the British Ski Academy as an athlete aged 12, competing as an alpine skier. After becoming the youngest British Ski Cross Champion ever, aged just 15, she made the England Freestyle Ski Team in 2009. It was during this time Jaz started telemark skiing, a discipline for which she showed potential on a far larger scale, competing in her first World Junior Telemark Championship in 2011. Jaz was invited to the World Junior Championships after the British Telemark Ski Team spotted her results in the French Cup Series following her frequent podium appearances. Jaz has been on the British Team ever since. Based in Chamonix, France, Jaz is currently training for the World Cup season and the 2019 World Championships. Persistent and hardworking, Jaz’s exceptional talent for telemarking is matched only by her fierce determination and ambition to one day be World Champion.
