This is a newly created position ideally suited to an ambitious performance driven marketeer. A great opportunity to play a pivotal role in creating an internationally recognised global brand.
 
We are looking for an experienced and talented Head of Marketing to lead the planning, execution and performance of all BAM’s marketing and communications. You will be equally inspired to tell compelling brand stories, create inspiring customer journeys and experiences, and build a global community.
 
Reporting to the Managing Director this role will lead a growing, talented marketing team of 11, and oversee relationships with external Agencies.
As a direct-to-consumer brand the scope of BAM’s marketing includes offline (catalogue, inserts and direct mail), digital (email, PPC, SEO, re-targeting, affiliates), social, influencer and PR. The team is also responsible for all elements of BAM’s website – look, functionality, and performance, increasingly through devising and running a sophisticated CRO and experimentation program.
 
Performance is measured and driven by a deep understanding of the data, which in turn informs the strategy.
 
Building further on strong growth in our core UK market, we are also now ideally positioned to take on our ambition to significantly grow our international presence and customer base.
 

The Role

• Along with other senior department heads devise a robust, stretching, inspiring and executable marketing strategy to deliver to BAM’s objectives, opportunities, and ambition
• Enthusiastically lead, manage, develop, and mentor the in-house marketing team
• Working with the marketing team own and manage sales forecasting and marketing budgets. Finding creative and cost-effective ways to optimise opportunities and spend, and take responsibility for ROI.
• Possess knowledge, experience and passion for CRM, data, email, PPC, Google Shopping, Instagram, Facebook, Influencers, direct mail, SEO, email, affiliates, PR, content marketing, CRO, experimentation, partnerships. Have a keen interest to learn about new channel opportunities and the commercial acumen to assess their potential for BAM
• Demonstrate brilliant reporting and communication, leading the team to deliver regular updates on activity, key learnings and insights, and make relevant recommendations which drive profitable growth
• Oversee and co-ordinate Agency relationships to ensure they are accurately briefed and managed by the team and that their activity and input is aligned with the strategy. Ensure commercial value is being achieved from the relationships and that their combined efforts are optimised.
• Working closely with the Brand and Product Director, and in-house creative team, to tell brand stories ensuring the BAM brand values, messages and tone of voice are consistently infused across all marketing activity and customer touchpoints
• Develop clear channel strategies and KPI’s that guide the marketing team to deliver brilliantly constantly striving for best quality and improvements
• Possess a thorough understanding of the key metrics and levers required to drive traffic, convert and retain customers, and optimise lifetime value.
• Skilled at building and managing multi £ million budgets based on robust data analysis and forecasting
• Able to plan and implement a complementary and incremental marketing investment plan as well as monitor and adjust planning based on a test and learn strategy
• Skilled at devising multi-channel customer journeys and touch points to increase conversion, average order value and order frequency
• Get things done – know how to be responsible for identifying and driving priorities and working collaboratively with other departments to establish timelines and deliver to deadlines. Have a strong ‘can do’ attitude

Data Analyst- Plymouth, South West

We are looking for a talented Data Analyst to be the first dedicated analyst in the BAM marketing team. This role will be the internal focal point for undertaking detailed customer, data, and campaign analysis and reporting.
 
This is an exciting role for someone with a high level of numeracy, who is naturally data curious, and has a good attention to detail. You will require advanced capability in Excel and at least a basic knowledge of other data management, analytical, visualisation and reporting tools.
Whilst most of the work will be briefed by the team this role also requires the ability to know what questions to ask and have the proactivity and natural curiosity to go seeking interesting and useful insights that will help inform the business and drive it forward.
 
 

The Role

• Become the focal point to produce, or support the production of, all data analysis requirements across the BAM business.
• The types of analysis regularly required will include.
o Customer data
o Marketing campaigns
o Customer surveys
o Production of companywide and strategic level KPI reports – potential to develop into a dashboard/s
o Sustainability and Impact analysis and reporting
o Basic financial and business performance reports
o Forecasting and trend analysis
• Produce the reports and analysis, but also have the interest to look for insights and be part of the discussion to make recommendations based on them
• Whilst reporting into the marketing team this is a companywide resource
• Ability to take adhoc analysis and either directly, or with input from BAM’s external partners, automate where possible and sensible to do so
• Document regular analysis and core data sources and processes
• Become expert in being able to access and extract data from Delstree – BAM’s back office order management system – in order to undertake analysis
• Make recommendations for introducing new tools into the business and be instrumental in implementing them
• Data curiosity – whilst c.80% of work will be briefed by the team there will be time within this role to look for other interesting facts, anomalies and insights in the data that will discover and answer those unknown unknowns.

Other Expectations

• Excel wiz – advanced knowledge of Excel and highly capable in utilising the full suite of functionality
• Literate in Google Analytics and Data Studio
• Basic knowledge and capability in data engineering and tools e.g., SQL
• Basic knowledge of a data visualisation tool e.g., Tableau, PowerBI
• Ability, interest, and desire to learn more complex tools and analytical techniques – e.g., SAS, Python, R
• An understanding and appreciation of GDPR and data governance
• Ideally 2+ years’ experience in a similar role, but could suit an exceptionally talented and motivated individual with directly relevant educational qualifications

Junior Front End Web Developer - Plymouth, South West

The Role
A new role in a growing area within BAM, we are looking for an experienced Junior Front End Web Developer to work with our UX team and Technical Manager with the goal to create the best digital experiences for our online shoppers. Responsibilities will include translation of the UI/UX wireframes / designs to actual code that will produce visual elements on our website that delight our customers.
 
Reporting To:  UX Designer/Developer 
 

Main Duties

• Taking UI / UX Designs and turning them into workable code for our website  
• Working with the UX Designer to ensure the website is consistent with the Style Guide
• Apply best practise coding knowledge to deliver well-structured, considered and re-useable code
• Develop CSS/HTML/JS & jQuery-based tests which manipulate the DOM to run experiments that can inform our decisions based on data.
• Work on optimizing the website, striving for a streamlined and effortless experience for customers with minimal page load times 
Essential Experience
• Strong demonstrable experience as a Junior Front End Web Developer
• Excellent Front End coding knowledge: HTML5, CSS, jQuery & JS are a must, including mobile-first responsive web design
• 1 – 2 years (minimum) of Commercial experience working on public facing interactive websites
• The ability to demonstrate a past track record of success with portfolio / live site examples
• You can show examples where you have taken a design and have coded this as per the job / project spec.
• Good attention to detail even under pressure
• Ability to work independently and alongside colleagues with time management skills
• The ability to learn new skills
• A high standard of English and grammar
 

Nice to have 

• Experience within WordPress and Woocommerce
• An understanding of ecommerce shopping behaviours and best practices in Web Design
• A positive and creative attitude to change
• Have a solid understanding of the challenges of cross-browser development.

Package

– Salary: £25k – 30k depending on experience  
– Holiday: 20 days plus Bank Holidays.
