Introducing the Any Weather Mac | The Recycled and Recyclable Waterproof Jacket

Meet the Any Weather Mac: a certified recyclable waterproof jacket. PFAS-free, 10,000mm rated.

You know the drill. You leave the house in sunshine, and by the time you’re halfway through your walk the sky’s turned the colour of a bruise and you’re being sideways-rained on with your so-called waterproof that isn’t holding up its end of the bargain. British weather doesn’t do half measures but luckily, neither does our new Any Weather Mac…

Introducing our biggest fabric innovation in years and our first certified-recyclable waterproof coat. It’s the coat we’ve been working towards since day one: one that performs brilliantly in the rain, looks timeless in your wardrobe, and – when it’s (very long) life is finally over – won’t sit in landfill for the next 200 years.

The problem with most waterproof jackets

Waterproof jackets are one of the hardest things in your wardrobe to recycle. Which is ironic as the people who buy them – tend to be those who love nature and the outdoors the most! The trouble is, most rain macs are built from different materials bonded together with petrochemical glues and coated zips that can’t be pulled apart. However good your intentions, that gorgeous rain mac is, in the end, likely destined for landfill.

We’ve spent years finding ways to make activewear with a lighter footprint – from using nature-based and recycled fabrics for over 90% of what we make, to our certified recyclable 73 Zero range. So a genuinely recyclable waterproof felt less like an option and more like unfinished business.

Aquaveil™: our recyclable waterproofing technology

Our answer is a technology we call Aquaveil™, and it’s a genuine first. Instead of bonding different materials together with standard chemical glues, the Any Weather Mac is made almost entirely from one material family – recycled polyester – right down to the seams and trims. The only thing that isn’t, is the recycled metal zip head, which is easily removed.

The result: a coat that’s 95% recycled polyester, with a bond as strong as the fabric itself – and one that can be recycled whole, not painstakingly dismantled.

How we got there:

  • Ultrasonic heat sealing – we ditched the chemical glues that contaminate recycling batches and replaced them with a specialised same-material adhesive that heat-seals the seams. It creates a bond as strong as the fabric itself, for a watertight finish that melts down perfectly with the rest of the coat at the end of its life.
  • A bonded membrane – the waterproof membrane at the heart of the jacket is bonded to the outer fibre using a certified recyclable bonding agent. Tough on rain, gentle on the recycling process.

It’s been independently certified recyclable by the Circular Textiles Foundation, and thanks to our free take-back scheme, when you’re finally done with it, it’ll be recycled with SATCoL, the UK’s largest charity-owned textiles collector – rather than ending up in landfill.

Does this sustainable raincoat actually keep you dry?

Completely. We haven’t compromised an inch on style or performance to get here.

  • 10,000mm waterproof rating – double the minimum industry standard. The fabric can withstand a 10-metre column of water pressing on it for 24 hours before a drop gets through.
  • 5,500g breathability score – strong enough for everyday wear, brisk walks and light exercise, so you’re not clammy by the time you get to where you’re going.
  • Teflon EcoElite™ waterproofing – a bio-based, PFAS-free durable water repellent that sheds rain while letting the fabric breathe.

Clever design details do the rest of the work: storm flaps front and back channel rain away while hiding inner mesh vents that stop you overheating, deep waterproof welt pockets keep your phone and keys dry, and an adjustable waist tie and cuff tabs let you fine-tune the fit. There’s a generous drawcord hood that looks just as good up as it does down – and when the sun finally makes an appearance, our ingenious inner harness lets you shrug the coat off and carry it hands-free over your shoulders, like a backpack, instead of wrestling it under your arm.

The bottom line

It’s an investment piece. One built to outlast a season, not just survive one. It’s a genuine step forward, not just for your wardrobe, but for the industry: proof that a coat can perform brilliantly in the rain today, and still have somewhere responsible to go once its job is done. Weatherproof. Trendproof. And, for the first time, landfillproof. Cost it against the various “quick fix” macs you’ve bought and binned over the years, and it quickly becomes the sensible purchase.
